CU ring ceremony set Sept. 26

The public is invited to attend the Sept. 26 event

LEBANON -- Cumberland University will host a Championship Ring Celebration and Dinner for the 2014 Baseball National Championship team on Friday, Sept. 26 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Lebanon. The 6:30 p.m. dinner is open to the public.

Tickets may be purchased by calling head coach Woody Hunt at 615/547-1366 or stopping by the baseball clubhouse. Tickets are $10 per person and must be purchased by Monday, Sept. 22.

Cumberland (49-20) claimed its third national championship in 10 years this past season, entering the NAIA - Avista World Series as the No. 10 seed -- defeating host Lewis-Clark State twice on the way to the title.

Infielder Sam Lind earned First Team All-America honors with Ricky Coleman and Chris Hall both selected Second Team All-Americans.

Hunt was named NAIA Coach of the Year and shortstop Tyler Anderson was voted a national Gold Glove winner as well.

Every member of last year's team will be presented with a championship ring during the event.
