CU tennis wins big in Fla.

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- Cumberland swept all three doubles matches and all six singles outings, defeating 16th-ranked Warner University in mens tennis action Tuesday.

The Bulldogs improved to 4-0 this season and have won both of their matches on the Spring Break trip to Florida. CU will take on Webber International on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.

In doubles the seventh-ranked duo of Antonio Manuel Marcelo and Evan Sanna defeated Julian Ramirez and Vitor Schepper, 8-1, at No. 1; Devin Crotzer and Naim Azhar won 8-3 over Amar Vora and Akharis Sa-ardphanchai at No. 2; and Pedro Rodrigues and Andres Burgos posted a victory by the same score at No. 3 against Juanes Espinel and Diogo Barros.

In singles the Bulldogs won four matches easily in straight sets and another in a pro set.

Marcelo won a first-set tiebreaker, 7-4, and led 4-0 in the second set when Ramirez retired at No. 1, while Azhar recorded a 6-1, 6-1, victory at No. 2 over Schepper and Sanna won by the same score at No. 3 versus Tiago Oliveira. Rodrigues posted a 6-2, 6-1, triumph at No. 4 against Espinel, Burgos won 6-0, 6-2, at No. 5 over Sa-ardphanchai and Jeremy Fleming finished off the victory with a 9-8 (5) win at No. 6 versus Barros.
