CU to celebrate 'Haunted Homecoming' this weekend

With homecoming falling on Oct. 31, the Cumberland University campus is getting in the spirit with "A Haunted Homecoming" this weekend. There are numerous activities scheduled for students, alumni and the community.

Events slated for the weekend include:

Friday, Oct. 30

  • 10 a.m. - Campus tour at Memorial Hall

  • Noon - CU Bulldogs vs. Milligan Buffaloes (volleyball) at Dallas Floyd Recreation Center

  • Noon - Lunch in Phillips Dining Hall with the classes of 1964-1968 and any other alumni, parents and friends (open to the public)

  • 6 p.m. - Sports Hall of Fame dinner in Baird Chapel; tickets: $25 per person. Contact Jo Jo Freeman at (615) 547-1350 to purchase tickets.

  • 7 p.m. - "Love Rides the Rails" student play at Heydel Fine Arts Center. Contact Molly Agee at (615) 547-1331 for reservations.

  • 7:30 p.m. - Alumni "Party on the Patio" for all class years on the Catron Alumni House Patio featuring music, free hors d'oeuvres, two drink tickets and cash bar.

  • All day - Student Art Show in the Heydel Center's Adams Gallery.

Saturday, Oct. 31

  • 9:30 a.m. - Brunch for the classes of 1964-1968 at 516 West Spring Street.

  • 10 a.m. - Goodwill of Middle Tennessee Donation Drive at Nokes-Lasater Field

  • 10:30 a.m. - Tailgating outside of Nokes-Lasater Field featuring fun photos, inflatables and more.

  • Noon - CU Bulldogs vs. Bethel Wildcats and recognition of the classes of 1964-1968 as well as the introduction of the 2015 Homecoming King, Queen and court.

  • 7 p.m. - "Love Rides the Rails" student play at Heydel Fine Arts Center.

  • All day - Student Art Show in the Heydel Center's Adams Gallery.

Sunday, Nov. 1

  • 11 a.m. - Church service for classes of 1964-1968 at Immanuel Baptist Church.

  • 2:30 p.m. - "Love Rides the Rails" student play at Heydel Fine Arts Center.

  • All day - Student Art Show in the Heydel Center's Adams Gallery.
