Cumberland University and the Doris & Harry Vise Library is hosting a student photography exhibit now through Wednesday, Dec. 9 featuring works from the Spring and Fall 2009 Digital Photography (ART 130) and Special Studies: Digital Photography (ART 390) classes.

These classes are offered as part of the Entertainment Design degree program and are taught by Margie Monde, co-director of the Entertainment Design Program and Cumberland University’s director of Graphics.

The exhibit contains several award-winning entries. “Strings” by John Essary was selected for the Artists of the 21st Century Exhibit, a Southeastern U.S. Juried Exhibition of Collegiate Art, which was held in the spring at the West Tennessee Regional Art Center in Humboldt. Only 25 works were selected from students from seven states, and this work was among those chosen. A total of five digital photography works representing Cumberland University were featured in this prestigious exhibit.

Other award winners featured in the exhibit include "Electric City Storm" and "Nature's Ladder," by Thom Wilkinson and "The Look" by Essary, which all won awards at this year's FOCUS Art Competition.
