Thirty-six teams have signed up for the fourth annual Cure for Our Friends Golf Tournament on Saturday. It is the first year for two tee times - 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Michelle Butler, one of the event's coordinators, explained slots are still available for golfers who wish to take swings for Cystic Fibrosis (CF).
Cure for Our Friends assists local families affected by CF and also donates directly to the CF Foundation.
Last year's tournament raised $25,000 for their mission. When a family is affected by CF, Cure for Our Friends can assist with everything from paying bills directly to helping with prescriptions.
Thirty-four teams played in the 2016, including many celebrity golfers.
This year they are expecting former NFL players such as Paul Guidry, Randy Fuller, Kevin Dyson, Rayna Stewart, Derrick Mason and Eddie Khayat.
The Nashville Predators Ice Girls will also be on the Windtree Golf Course with refreshments.
Even those who are not golfers are invited to join the dinner party in the Windtree clubhouse at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Dinner will be catered by Courtney's of Mt. Juliet. Country duo Branch & Dean will perform, along with The Skahls.
Butler said this year's tournament will be in memory of Mt. Juliet's Whitney Jackson and Kaydyn Smith of Buffalo Valley.
A memorial balloon launch will take place between tournaments.
