CU's Jernigan repeats as MSC West PoY

Cumberland University linebacker Nathan Jernigan has earned his second-straight Mid-South Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Year honor.

Individual awards as well as first and second team All-West Division honorees were announced Wednesday afternoon by the MSC.

A redshirt senior, Jernigan ranks third in the Mid-South with 9.5 tackles per game and 105 total tackles and is one of three defenders in the MSC with at least 100 tackles.

A graduate of Eagleville High School in Rutherford County, Jernigan ranks 21st in the NAIA with 9.5 tackles per game.

He finished second on the Cumberland team with 11 tackles for loss and four sacks during the 2016 season.
