West Div. Offensive Player of the Week
Cumberland freshman Kendall Johnson was voted the Mid-South Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after scoring the winning touchdown in CU's 46-40 victory over Campbellsville University and amassing 210 all-purpose yards in the game, as announced by the league office.
The Nashville McGavock product scored the game-winning touchdown on a three-yard run with just under five minutes to play and set season-highs with 18 carries for 104 yards in the contest.
He broke a tackle on a big third down conversion on the game-winning drive before doing the same on the winning TD, bouncing off a defender at the one before heading into the end zone.
Johnson also caught five passes for 46 yards and returned two kickoffs for 60 yards with a long of 37. He ranks third on the club in rushing with 305 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 5.6 yards per attempt, and has 19 receptions for 164 yards so far this season.
Cumberland evened its record at 4-4 with Saturday's victory and plays its final three games of the season on the road beginning this week at Bethel University, who was undefeated and ranked 18th nationally until suffering a 24-13 loss to Faulkner University Saturday.
