Cumberland's Mike Self is the Mid-South Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.
The weekly honor is the second weekly award of the season for Self -- who hit a pair of field goals and pinned Belhaven inside its own 20-yard line five times in a 41-9 win.
The Lebanon junior connected on field goals from 23 and 25 yards in the second half to build on the Bulldogs lead.
A graduate of Friendship Christian School, Self averaged 30.3 yards per punt while forcing the Blazers to start drives on their own 7, 26, 26, 11, 8, 17 and 9-yard lines. He finished the day 5-for-5 in point after attempts to remain perfect this season in his eight tries.
Self leads the Mid-South and is fifth in the NAIA with four field goals while ranking sixth in the conference in kicker scoring with 20 points. He is averaging 32.7 yards per punt -- 12th best in the MSC.
No. 21-ranked Cumberland improved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the MSC West with the win. The Bulldogs travel to Bluefield Saturday, Sept. 27.
