Mt. Juliet 54, M.L. King 52
NASHVILLE -- J.R. Sanders connected on a 15-footer at the buzzer, lifting Mt. Juliet to a 54-52 win over Nashville's Martin Luther King, Jr. Magnet in Wednesday's consolation round of the Willie Brown Memorial Tournament at Father Ryan High.
The Golden Bears improved to 8-7 with the victory, headed into a Thursday afternoon fifth place game.
Mt. Juliet led 31-20 at halftime, and held off MLK's 17-10 fourth quarter run for the win.
Sanders finished with 21 points while Trey Pruitt had 11 and Issac Stephens eight.

(boys) Alcoa 68, Lebanon 61
FRANKLIN -- Lebanon High saw an early nine-point lead evaporate in Wednesday's 68-61 loss to Alcoa in the "Battle of Franklin" Wednesday night at Battle Ground Academy.
The Blue Devils (9-4) led 21-12 after the first quarter and 34-31 at halftime, only to see the Tornadoes pull ahead with four minutes to play.
Only four LHS players scored, including post man Eddie Jackson who powered in 26 points.
Cameron Oliver added 17 (including a pair of 3-pointers), Noah Mulaski 14 (three 3-pointers)and Kemon Neuble four points off the bench.

(boys) Overton 68, Wilson Central 63
NASHVILLE -- Tournament host John Overton High pulled out a 68-63 victory over Wilson Central Wednesday in the Overton Christmas Tournament.
The back and forth contest saw Wilson Central trailing 20-18 in the first quarter and 32-30 at intermission before taking a 47-44 lead into the final period.
Gavin Johnson nailed four 3-pointers and paced the Wildcats with 22 points.
Cole Booth added 12, Kito Aruh had 11 and Dawson Hamilton nine on three 3-pointers as Wilson Central fell to 7-6 on the season.
