MJ Lady Bears play for 5th
GREENEVILLE -- Mt. Juliet's Lady Bears upped their record to 8-3 on the season with a 74-28 win over Davula (Ga.) Wednesday in the consolation bracket of the Landair Ladies Classic at Hal Hernard Gym.
With the victory, MJHS earn a spot in the tournament's fifth place game, Thursday afternoon vs. Goose Creek (S.C.).
Tavie Bell had 23 points for the winners. Julia Maki pumped in five 3-pointers for her 15 points and Payton Brumbach had 14.
Mt. Juliet is scheduled to host District 9-AAA rival Beech High Friday, Jan. 8.

CENTERVILLE -- Wilson Central got 23 points from Aaron Schoch Wednesday in a 64-58 win over Waverly in the fifth place game of the Above The Rim Invitational at Hickman County High.
The Wildcats led 38-27 at intermission and improved to 9-5 overall.
Dennis Stallings had 11 points while Adam Williams and Gavin Johnson each had nine.
Central retuns to the hardwood for a District 9-AAA contest Friday, Jan. 8 at Gallatin.

NASHVILLE - Mt. Juliet improved to 12-4 on the season with a consolation bracket win over 47-44 win over Clarksville High Wednesday in Father Ryan's Willie Brown Memorial Classic.
Leading 23-15 at intermission, the Bears withstood a 16-6 Clarksville run in the third to pull out the victory.
Tyler Faulkenberry paced Mt. Juliet with 20 points while Austin Brown had 11 and J.R. Sanders nine.
Coach Troy Allen's team Mt. Juliet will host District 9-AAA rival Beech High Friday, Jan. 8.

JEMISON, Ala. -- A double-double from Elliott Gregory helped lead Friendship Christian to a 44-37 victory over Dallas County (Ala.) in a Wednesday morning consolation game of the Jemison Christmas Tournament.
Brady Stovall and Cameron Smith each had seven points as the Commanders improved to 5-6 on the season.
FCS will be back in action Tuesday, Jan. 5 playing at Merrol Hyde Magnet in Gallatin.

SPARTA -- Lebanon High slipped to 8-8 on the season following a 60-51 loss to Harpeth Hall Wednesday in a consolation game of the Sonic Shootout -- being staged at White County High.
Bailey Sells led LHS with 12 points while Christaney Brookshire chipped in with eight.
Lebanon is set to host White County High, Tuesday, Jan. 5 at Campbell Brandon Gymnasium.

WATERTOWN -- The Tigerettes fell to 9-5 on the season following a 57-45 loss to White House Heritage Wednesday evening in the Watertown Christmas Classic.
Bobbi Staats and Brenna Luttrell each had 12 points for WHS while DaeDae Nunle chipped in with eight.

WATERTOWN -- Twenty-nine points from Seth Price was not enough Wednesday night as Watertown dropped a 72-68 decision to White House Heritage in the Watertown Christmas Classic.
Blake Borcherding had 12 points and seven rebounds while Austin Lasater chipped in nine points as the Purple Tigers fell to 11-6 overall.
Watertown will play at District 8-A rival Goodpasture Tuesday, Jan. 5 in a 6 p.m. doubleheader.
