WATERTOWN – DeKalb County’s offense finally came to life and helped the Class 3A Tigers rally for a 31-14 victory over Watertown Friday night at Robinson Stadium.
Watertown (1-1) led 14-10 heading into the fourth quarter when DeKalb County erupted for three unanswered touchdowns and took command of the game.
DeKalb County improved to 2-0 on the season and saw quarterback Hunter Poteet complete 12-of-21 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns.
Poteet also ran 22 times for 63 yards and scored once.
Watertown’s Dalton Phillips completed 9-of-15 attempts for 71 yards.
Ethan Patterson rushed five times for 36 yards, including an 11 yard touchdown.
Blaze Eaton ran 11 times for 56 yards and had the play of the game defensively as he intercepted a Poteet pass and returned it 61 yards for a score midway through the first quarter.
The Purple Tigers will be back in action Friday, Sept. 5 as they open up Region 4, 1A action with a road trip to Hartsville to take on Trousdale County High School.
