Devils split weekend games

Lebanon’s Blue Devils split a pair of weekend basketball games, losing at Franklin Saturday and downing Hendersonville High at home Friday night.

Franklin’s Rebels outscored LHS 14-6 in the fourth quarter Saturday, pulling ahead for a 58-47 victory. LHS led 29-28 at intermission and only trailed 44-41 heading into the final period. Braden Matthews led the Rebels with 20 points. Phillip Vance was the only Blue Devil in double figures with 13 points. Cameron High finished with nine while Justin Manning and Ryan Beadle had seven each. Lebanon High fell to 4-5 with the loss.

The Blue Devils had a much easier time Friday night at home, disposing of Hendersonville 59-41. High led all scorers with 16 points from down low. Manning and Beadle chipped in with a dozen points apiece -- as Beadle drilled three 3-pointers. Justin Bridges added seven points, Kyrus Hoffinger five, Vance four and Case Sloan threee. Lebanon High is scheduled to play at Livingston Academy  in the Mid-South Classic Saturday, December 19 at 3:30 p.m.

Beech 69, Central 22 -- Beech vaulted to a 30-2 lead after one period and never looked back Friday night en route to a 68-22 win over District 9AAA rival Wilson Central High at Shackle Island. The second period wasn’t much better as the Bucs outscored the Wildcats 16-9 -- stretching the margin at intermission to 46-11. Jordan Lee led Wilson Central with eight points as the Wildcats slid to 2-3 on the season.

Watertown 55, TCHS 51 -- Watertown’s Purple Tigers improved to 3-3 on the season with a 55-51 victory at Trousdale County High Friday, December 11. Sophomore KeAndre Bates led all scorers with 25 points and senior Dalton Phillips chipped in with 11. Caleb Grandstaff added six, Jay Ellis five, Cameron Jordan and Andrew Jennings  three points apiece and Tyler Oakley two. The Tigers play Friday night in Smithville against DeKalb County High.

FCS 44, Clay Co. 42 -- Sophomore Dalton Patterson knocked down a pair of free throws with six seconds left in regulation Friday night, lifting Friendship Christian to a 44-42 victory at Clay County High. Coach Matt Bradshaw’s Commanders improved to 4-1 with the win. Lee Maasen hit a free throw to tie the score at 42-all just seconds earlier, then made a steal on the inbounds pass -- then whipped the ball to Patterson who was promptly fouled. Maasen led FCS with 14 points, Isaac Wilson finished with nine and Parker Teeter eight.

MJCA 58, Community 55 -- Roaring back from 10 points down at intermission, Mt. Juliet Christian Academy pulled out a 58-55 win over Community Christian Academy Friday night at home. MJCA trailed 33-23 at the break, but exploded for 20 thrid quarter points to take a 43-41 lead into the final period. Daniel Harden’s 17  points paced three Saints in double figures. T.J. Roberts hit a pair of three-pointers and finished with 14 while Gran Keen added 10. Zach Harvey chipped in with eight and Tyler Sumner seven points.
