Former Wilson Central standout
Wilson Central High's wrestling family is mourning the passing of 2015 graduate Lane Dickeson, who died Sunday, July 10 in a one-car accident in Mt. Juliet.
Dickeson, 19, the son of Shawn and Tanya Dickeson, was a three-time AAU All-American at Wilson Central and twice medaled in the TSSAA Class AAA state tournament -- earning all-state honors.
He placed sixth in the 2015 state tournament at 138-pounds and was the 126 runner-up in 2014. Dickeson was a four-time state qualifer, a two-time region champion and finished his prep career with 187 victories -- eighth all-time at WCHS.
"Lane was one of the most successful wrestlers I've coached," said WCHS head coach John Kramer. Not just at Wilson Central but throughout my 28-year career.
"Lane was part of that group that came up to Wilson Central and put program on the map. He will be greatly missed and remembered forever."
Dickeson spent the 2015-2016 academic year as a redshirt freshman at Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio.
He had made plans to transfer closer to home to Middle Tennessee State and wrestle there.
According to reports from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Dickeson was at the wheel of a 2006 Subaru when he apparently lost control of the vehicle while southbound on Beckwith Road. The vehicle left the roadway shortly after 4 p.m. and struck a tree.
Funeral services were conducted 6 p.m. Thursday, July 14, at Cooks United Methodist Church, 7919 Lebanon Road, Mt. Juliet with Pastor Sandra Clay officiating.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Wildcats Wrestling Club.
Arrangements by Bond Memorial Chapel, N. Mt. Juliet Road.
