Unique quilt offered for auction --
UPDATE -- Bowing to concerns over the weather, Cumberland baseball's annual "Dine with the 'Dogs" kickoff dinner / auction has been moved to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19 at the Benton Jennings Center on the CU campus.
"There's nothing we can do about the weather," said Cumberland baseball coach Woody Hunt. "I hate that we've had to postpone the dinner twice now, but we don't want to take a chance on someone getting hurt."
The evening will include both a silent and live auction of baseball memorabilia as well as other donated items, with all proceeds going to the CU baseball program. A "ball park themed" meal will be presented prior to the program.
Cost of the event is $25 per person. Among the items going up for auction is a one-of-a-kind quilt featuring shirts from Cumberland's many trips to the Avista-NAIA World Series. The quilt, donated to the program by Southeastern Impressions, was made by Vicki McCurdy of Long Arm Quility.
Hunt also said several one-of-a-kind collector's items would be available for purchase as well as box seats to major league games in Cincinnati, Atlanta and Chicago.
