PADUCAH, KY -- Two Cumberland errors in the top of the ninth extended the inning and led Tennessee Wesleyan to a 5-3 victory over Cumberland Thursday night in the NAIA "Regional" Tournament at Brooks Stadium.

The loss dropped the Bulldogs (44-15) into the loser's bracket and a 9:30 a.m. "loser-out" game Saturday vs. either William Jewell or Southern Poly.

After a 3 hour, 21 minute rain delay, CU's T.J. Murphy drilled a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 3-all.

"T.J.'s hit gave us some momentum," said Coach Woody Hunt, "I really thought we could scratch out another run or two after that. We fought hard to get back in it, we just didn't make the plays in the ninth. That's been our problem all year."

CU was playing without DH Mike Mandarino, who injured a shoulder in Thursday's 11-1 win over William Jewell.
