Dolly Parton to open Nashville Theme Park

The first phase, a $50 million water-and-snow theme park, will help fill the gap left when Opryland USA closed its doors in 1997 and is expected to attract a half million visitors its first year. It could open by the summer of 2014.

Not only should it boost tourism in Nashville and Wilson County, but it should help fill rooms in Middle Tennessee hotels and generate as many as 500 new full and part-time jobs.

Ground-breaking on the project is expected late this year or in early 2013.
