Dorothea Jung Maxey, of the Norene community in Lebanon, passed away on Oct. 1, 2016.
Mrs. Maxey was born Dorothea Anne Jung in Tallassee, Alabama on Feb. 14, 1943 to O.E. Jung Jr. and Elma Taylor Jung. She graduated from Donelson High School in 1961. She worked at National Life and Casualty Insurance after graduation. Upon her marriage, she helped to start and build Maxey Motors into a 41 year old business. Later, she served as the executive director of the Wilson County Community Help Center for twenty plus years. She also served on the board of Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation's Charitable Giving Organization until her death.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Garry Maxey. She has one daughter, Kimberly (Alex Bird) and two granddaughters, Elinor and June Bird. She is also survived by her brother Nolan, sister-in- law Martha, and nieces and nephew Dawn Hudson, Dana Munson, Bud Maxey, and Patricia Battle.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Orba Maxey.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016 Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon at 11 a.m.
Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, Oct. 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of Service.
Pallbearers include Freddie Armistead, Erik Battle, Jimmy Davenport, Mitch Kilgore, Bob Morton, Matthew Munson, Charles Ricketts and Jeff Williams.
