Dr. Amanda Petty Ray, 35

A memorial and celebration of life will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18 at Mt. Juliet's West Wilson Middle School for Dr. Ray, 35. A native of Hartsville and the wife of Nelson Ray, the career educator died Sunday morning, Dec. 14, 2014 following an extended illness.

She received her Associate degree from Volunteer State Community College, her Bachelor's & Master's degrees from Cumberland University, EDS degree from Tennessee Technological University and recently earned her Doctorate of Education from Tennessee State University.

She was employed as a teacher at Cameron Middle School, Stoner Creek Elementary and West Wilson Middle School.

Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17 at Partlow Funeral Chapel, Lebanon and with 5-6 p.m. Thursday at the school.

In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made in her memory to The Amanda Ray Benefit Fund at any Wilson Bank & Trust location or to the TSU Doctorial Student Organization c/o Dr. Johnna Paraiso, 1022 Walton Drive, Murfreesboro, 37130.

Arrangements are in the care of Lebanon's Partlow Funeral Chapel.
