Empower Me nixes plans for Carver Lane property

Empower Me Center announced this week the contract to purchase land on Carver Lane in Lebanon has been terminated.

"In the end, it was just not the best fit for Empower Me," Empower Me Executive Director Michelle Hill stated. "We are grateful to the Bones and Smithwicks for coming to us with their vision in the first place. We would not be where we are today with all of the community's support unless we were working toward the goal of having our plans land there."

And while the location for the planned Empower Me Center will change, Hill said plans for the center put together by Mike Wrye and the team at Lose & Associates will remain the same.

"We love our plans. We are just going to find the right piece of land to put them on. That piece of land will be the piece of land that we are meant to be on to change lives," she said. "Our story has always been about meeting the needs of our campers and families, and the path we are on has always had many twists and turns - doors shutting, doors opening. We are ready to be guided into a new direction, and we know the right path, in its own timing, will end with a fantastic outcome."

Empower Me, which serves special needs individuals and their families, is in the midst of a capital campaign to build the new center. The organization held a multi-event Day of Dreams fund-raiser on June 5.

Hill thanked the 120-plus volunteers who currently serve on committees related to the capital campaign. To learn more, visit www.EmpowerMeCenter.com.
