LEBANON -- A memorial service will be held at a later date for Mr. Marquardt, 87, of Lebanon.
Known as "Erv" to his family and friends, Mr. Marquardt passed away August 25, 2008, in Orland Park, Illinois, following a brief illness while visiting his daughter.
Born August 1, 1921, in Berwyn, Illinois, he was the son of the late Charles August and Anna Meyer Marquardt, who had immigrated to the United States from Germany.
Mr. Marquardt was a World War II Air Force veteran, was retired from the United States Postal Service and was a member of the Bairds Mill Church of Christ.
He and his late wife, Geraldine "Jeri" Landrum Marquardt, who passed away June 1, 2007, made porcelain dolls for many years.
He and his wife were inurned at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Columbarium in Elwood, Illinois Monday, September 8.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters.
He is survived by children Michael (Joyce) Cox of Berea, Ohio; Sheila Blaylock of Orland Park, Illinois; and Sonja (Wallace) Hall of Elkin, North Carolina.
Also surviving is brother Charles (Kay) Marquardt of Saint Germain, Wisconsin; sister-in-law Marjorie Smith of Lebanon; brothers-in-law Paul (Reba) Holt of Lebanon and Robert (Barbara) Holt of Marietta, Georgia; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
