LEBANON – Mrs. Estelle Phillips Thompson, 90, of Lebanon and a long-time resident of Chestnut Mound, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at the University Medical Center.
Born July 10, 1920, in Smith County to the late Charlie and Birchie Young Phillips, she graduated from Trousdale County High School and was a member of the Adam’s Avenue Church of Christ.
She and her husband owned and operated Thompson’s Store in the Chestnut Mound Community for many years. After her husband’s death, she moved to Lebanon and was a greeter at the Lebanon Wal-Mart for 19 years.
Visitation will be held Wednesday 3-8 p.m. and Thursday after 9 a.m. at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 31, 2011, at 10 a.m. with Bro. Raymond Costello and Bro. Bill Hayes officiating.
Interment will be in the Chestnut Mound Methodist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include: children Janice Ann (George) Massey of Lebanon, Phillip Earl (Cathey) Thompson of Burkesville, KY and Tommy Wayne Thompson of Counce; grandchildren Belinda Gail (Jim) Mathis of Mt. Juliet, Brian Keith (Gladys) Thompson of Burkesville, KY, Jennifer Robin Massey of Hermitage, Jeremy Todd Thompson of Carthage, Adriene Elizabeth (Matt) Wilson of Burkesville, KY, David Earl (Rachel) Thompson and Dustin Wayne Thompson of Carthage; eleven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dorothy Phillips Smith of Hartsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lillard Earl “Butch” Thompson Jr., November 7, 1980; and brothers Ottis and George Phillips.
Pallbearers: Jim Mathis, Keith Thompson, Robert Locke, Matt Wilson, Todd, David and Dustin Thompson and Jerrod Meyerink.
