The March meeting of the Wilson County Retired Teachers' Association was held at the First Church of the Nazarene on March 5. President Betty Hall welcomed the group and introduced special guests: Hardie and Amy Sorrels, Pam Johnson and Oleta Winfree. Dianne Cozart delivered a thought-provoking devotional and introduced the program. Five students from the Friendship High School Drama Department, under the direction of Bethany Hoppe, gave a delightful presentation of three songs from their upcoming performance of “The Secret Garden.” The play will be presented in its entirety at Friendship in May. After a short business meeting Mrs. Cozart reported the cares and concerns of members and their families. WCRTA is happy to welcome new member Jimmie Gilchrist, who retired in December. It is never too late to join WCRTA. If interested, please call 444-0071. Door prizes were furnished by Cracker Barrel. For the March community service project, members donated snacks and school supplies for the Potter’s House Tutoring Program. Following the meeting, members and guests enjoyed refreshments prepared by members Janet Mitchell and Sue Simpson. The next meeting will at the First Church of the Nazarene at 10 a.m. on April 2.
