FCS falls in D-II sub-state

St. George's advances to M-Boro -
COLLIERVILLE -- Friendship Christian's volleyball season came to a close Saturday afternoon with a 3-2 loss to St. George's Independent School 3-1 in a Division II-A sub-state contest.

The Lady Commanders came out of the blocks hot and won the first set, then dropped three straight. Game scores: 25-16, 6-25, 16-26 and 10-25.

"St. George's is a tough, veteran team," said FCS coach John Stephens, "they have five senior starters."

Morgan Vallett paced the Lady Commanders with eight kills, four digs and an assist.

Bayley West added six kills and two digs while Alycia Long had five kills, two blocks and a dig.

Setter Madison Bryant dished out 24 assists and had two digs; Libby Nave had 10 digs while Cameron Burton finished with seven digs.

Friendship Christian closed out the season with a record of 24-21.
