Commander teams sweep at HCA
HENDERSONVILLE -- A pair of Friendship Christian School basketball players broke the 1,000-point mark in their careers during Thursday, Dec. 8 wins at Hendersonville Christian Academy.

Junior guard Ashlyn Pittman scored her 1,000 career point on a 3-pointer midway through the second quarter in a 66-14 victory over Hendersonville Christian.

Pittman finished with 12 points while Bailey West led the way with 14. Autumn Groves and Sydney McCormick each had 10 as FCS moved to 4-4 on the season.

In Thursday's nightcap, senior Zach Blair broke the 1,000-pt. barrier with 20 points in a 64-55 win over Hendersonville Christian.

Jacob Blair added 13 points, Ashton Young had eight and Brady Stovall seven as FCS (4-4) won for the fourth consecutive time out.

The Commander teams are idle Friday, but will be on the road at Middle Tennessee Christian School for a 1 p.m. Saturday doubleheader.

Commander teams to play at Bridgestone
On day after Tennessee plays Gonzaga in the "Battle on Broadway" Sunday, Dec. 18 at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, the 20,000-seat facility will give way to to a high school basketball doubleheader featuring a Wilson County program.

Friendship Christian School and Goodpasture have agreed to moved their scheduled Monday, Dec. 19 games at the Bay Family Sportsplex to the downtown Nashville site.

The FCS girls will take the floor at 2:15 p.m. followed by the Goodpasture vs. Friendship boys game.

No admission will be charged.

It seems maintenance crews at Bridgestone won't be in a hurry to break down the portable basketball floor following Sunday's contest, allowing a window of opportunity for another contest to be held before switching back to a hockey surface.

"This was Ben's (FCS boys coach Johnson) idea," said FCS athletic director John McNeal. "We'll be losing a pretty good home gate, but it ought to be a great experience for the kids to play in that facility."

McNeal indicated that the athletic programs at Friendship and Goodpasture would be splitting costs for the contest -- such as rent for the facility, officials and the like.

"It all came together pretty fast," McNeal said, "in less than a week."
