MURFREESBORO -- Two games, two trophies. That was the night in a nutshell for the Friednship Christian basketball teams Tuesday as the locals swept the finals of the inaugural Mid-State Christmas Tournament at Middle Tennessee Christian School.

The Lady Commanders rode a 19-point effort from sophomore Laurel Burroughs en route to a 65-32 victory over Ezell-Harding Academy. FCS (8-3) sped to a 21-9 first quarter lead and never looked back.

Andi Morrisett chipped in with 13 points for the winners while Katy Vaughan and Sarah Hay each finished with nine.

(BOYS) FCS 48, Sycamore 46 -- Coach Matt Bradshaw’s Commanders had a tougher time claiming their hardware Tuesday night in a 48-46 come-from-behind win over Class AA Sycamore High.

The War Eagles led 17-8 at the end of the first quarter and maintained an eight-point margin (30-22) at intermission.

Friendship pulled ahead with an 18-11 fourth quarter -- taking the lead with roughly three minutes remaining. The Commanders improved to 9-2 on the season with the victory.

Nathan Boyd drilled a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 15 to lead FCS. Lee Maasen and Parker Teeter each scored 10 while Rod Goodner came off the bench for eight points.

The FCS squads will be back in action Saturday night with a road trip to Byrdstown to take on District 7AAA power Pickett County High in a 6 p.m. twinbill.
