FCS teams suffer Thursday losses

Baseball, softball at home Friday
Friendship Christian's baseball and softball teams will be at home tonight (Friday) in the opening round of their respective DII Regional Tournaments.

The Lady Commanders sport a record of 25-12 and will host Battle Ground Academy in a 6 p.m. game. The FCS baseball team will host Donelson Christian tonight at 6:30 p.m. in their regional opener.

SOFTBALL: Ezell-Harding 8, FCS 6
DONELSON -- Thursday afternoon, FCS dropped an 8-6 loss to Ezell-Harding in the finals of the East-Middle District 1-A tournament at Donelson Christian.

The Lady Commanders found themselves just a hit or two from breaking the game open, leaving the bases loaded on three different occassions.

Tana Whited took the loss for FCS, scattering 13 hits and striking out five.

Brittany Petry rapped out three hits for Friendship in the loss.

BASEBALL: Ezell-Harding 5, FCS 3
ANTIOCH -- Down 3-0 early, Ezell-Harding scored two runs in the second and added two more in the third on the way to a 5-3 victory over Friendship Christian in the East-Middle District 1-A third place game Thursday.

With the loss, the Commanders fell to 15-15 on the season and will host Donelson Christian tonight in a 6:30 p.m. loser-out game.

Leadoff man Steven Hollis went 2-for-3 with two RBI for the Commanders. He led off the game with a solo homer.

Colton Gaines and Marshall Taylor had the only other hits for Friendship.

Michael Hawks went the distance on the hill and took the loss. The lefty scattered 11 hits and struck out seven with no walks.
