It has been said that revenge is a dish best served cold.

Paybacks or not, it figures to be pretty chilly Friday night as Friendship Christian returns to Collierville to take on St. George's Independent School in a Division II-A playoff game.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. with live radio coverage on WANT FM-98.9 and WCOR AM-1490 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Barry Sherrill and Jason Miller will provide play-by-play and color commentary.

A year ago, these same two teams met in West Tennessee in the second round with St. George's coming out on top 42-14.

West District champs, the Gryphons (pronounced griffins) come in with a record of 6-4 and well rested after a bye in last week's first round.

St. George's has won four games in a row, including victories over University School of Jackson (32-7), Harding Academy (9-7), Tipton-Rosemark (66-21) and Fayette Academy (48-14).

Friendship enters 10-1 overall after downing Northpoint Christian 35-10 last week at Pirtle Field.

"We'll need another big-time effort from our defense," Commander coach John McNeal said.

Last week Friendship forced six turnovers, including four interceptions, against Northpoint.

"Don't let the record fool you, St. George's played a very tough schedule. They had a young team last year and return most of those guys."

FCS is riding the crest of a seven-game winning streak, dating back to a Sept. 19 home loss to Knox Webb by a score of 35-19.
