FCS volleyball plays in substate

Saturday in West Tennessee
Friendship Christian's volleyball team will be on the road Saturday for a 3 p.m. TSSAA substate game at St. George's Independent School in Collierville.

The winner will advance to the Division II-A state tournament Oct. 21 at Siegel High School.

The Lady Commanders (24-20 overall) earned a spot in the substate with a 3-1 consolation bracket win over The King's Academy Saturday, Oct. 10 at Battle Ground Academy. Game scores: 22-25, 25-20, 25-22 and 31-29.

Friendship's solid front wall helped lead the way against The King's Academy as Morgan Vallett tallied 17 kills and 11 digs.

Aja Jones finished with 14 kills, six digs and four aces while Alycia Long had 12 kills, two blocks and two digs.

Kendall Tipton added 12 kills and eight digs; Madison Bryant passed out 31 assists with 11 digs; Libby Nave had 18 digs and Bailey Bryant finished with 10 digs.

Friendship Christian moved into the consolation game with a 3-0 loss to Knox Webb in the semifinals. Game scores: 13-25, 10-25 and 16-25.

Jones was named to the regional all-tournament team.

Watertown eliminated Tuesday
GAINESBORO -- Watertown (20-11) ended the season with a 3-1 loss to Jackson County in Tuesday's first round of the Region 4-A tournament.
Game scores: 25-23, 11-25, 20-25 and 18-25.

Paige Mock was named all-region tournament while Mock and Brenna Luttrell were voted to the all-district tournament team. Bailey Griffin, Mock and Luttrell earned regular season all district honors.
