A predawn fire damaged a church and several businesses at a Mt. Juliet strip mall Wednesday.

The location is in the 11800 block of Lebanon Road.

Investigators were on the scene before dawn to determine if a lightning strike might have started the blaze, said Fire Department of Mt. Juliet Chief Jamie Luffman. He said they got the tone for the fire at 1:55 a.m., during a "pretty severe electrical storm."

Luffman said Friendship Community Church, Mt. Juliet Trophy, Danner Karate and The Vape Place sustained damage from the fire he believed started at the church. The City restaurant located at the church also sustained damage.

"The church and the trophy shop had the most damage," Luffman said. "The other businesses have smoke and water damage."

Lebanon Road was closed for over an hour while FDMJ and Wilson Emergency Management Agency crews got the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
