Five locals awarded scholarships

Five Tennessee Tech University students from Wilson County recently received scholarships for future educational opportunities.

Angela Jones, a junior history major from Mt. Juliet, received the J. Michael Winchester Scholarship. She is a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa, the Phi Theta Kappa and the Alpha Sigma Lambda honor societies and plans to attend law school upon graduation.

Joshua Hunter, a senior sociology major from Mt. Juliet, received the Mookiherjee Sociology Award. He is a member of the Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities and the Alpha Kappa Delta honor society.

Joseph Felkins, a junior physics major from Lebanon, received the Dr. David Murdock Physics Scholarship. He plans to pursue a Ph.D. in physics upon graduation.

Courtney Smith, a freshman pre-pharmacy major from Lebanon, received the Leroy Harkins Memorial Scholarship. She plans to pursue a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical studies upon graduation.

Allison Wittmer, a sophomore history major from Mt. Juliet, received the History Faculty Scholarship. She plans to pursue a Ph.D. to become a professor upon graduation.
