Golden Bears fall to 1-1
MT. JULIET -- Cane Ridge overcame 17 penalties for 102 yards and a handful of dropped passes in Thursday's 27-19 victory at Mt. Juliet.

Following a scoreless first quarter, the Ravens took a 13-6 lead into intermission and thanks to a pair of second half TDs from quarterback D.J. Thorpe -- never trailed.

Mt. Juliet's first half scoring came vis the foot of senior kicker Jacob Bailey who boomed field goals of 45 and 56 yards.

Cane Ridge piled up nearly 400 yards in total offense, improving to 2-0 on the season.

MJ pulled to within one with 6:25 left in regulation on a short run by Mason Earls, but the PAT try was blocked.

Leading 20-19, Cane Ridge tacked on another TD in the final two minutes to ice the game.

Mt. Juliet managed just 221 yards on offense and was penalized 10 times for 84 yards.

Coach Trey Perry's team (1-1) is scheduled to host Region 3-6A competition Friday, Sept. 2 as defending state champion Ravenwood comes to town.
