Former Mt. Juliet head coach
A Wilson County educator / coach is among five new inductees into the Tennessee Football Coaches Association's Hall of Fame.
Inductees include Steve Brewer, Carlton Flatt, Benny Hammonds, Roger Perry and Ken Netherland.
The five will be honored Saturday morning, Dec. 5 at the Life Church in Cookeville during the TNFCA annual Hall of Fame breakfast.
Serving three programs during his career, Perry is a 37 year coaching veteran - having worked 29 years as head coach.
His programs include Westmoreland, Portland and Mt. Juliet High, where he presently serves as director of football operations.
Perry has amassed 265-92 overall coaching record. During his time at Westmoreland (1984-89), Perry's record stood at 48-22.
After his tenure at Westmoreland, Perry moved to Portland (1990-05), where he enjoyed tremendous success, resulting in a 151-49 record and one state title.
During his tenure at Portland, Perry won the 2000 3A State Title, and was the runner up in the 1994 and 1999 title games.
After his time at Portland, Perry moved to Mt. Juliet (2006-12) adding 66-12 to his record.
Over his career Perry's teams made the playoffs 27 times.
