Wildcats' season ends at 6-7
MEMPHIS -- Host Whitehaven blew open a close 7-0 game with a 26-10 second quarter run on the way to an impressive 53-16 victory over Wilson Central Friday in the quarterfinals of the Class 6A football playoffs.

The Tigers improved to 12-1 on the season and will visit Ravenwood Nov. 27 with the winner moving on the the BlueCross State Championships in Cookeville.

The loss ended Wilson Central's surprising postseason journey. The Wildcats (6-7) eliminated higher seeds Cordova and Franklin after limping into the playoffs on a three game losing streak.

Tailback Tylan Watkins ran for three touchdowns to pace Whitehaven.

Wilson Central's scores came on a one-yard TD run from Jordan Hooper, a four-yard touchdown pass from Blake Meadors to Devon High and a 28 yard field goal by Adam Williams.
