Ford, Fish sweep 9AAA awards

Wilson County was well represented on the 2011 District 9AAA baseball all-district team. Wilson Central head coach Anthony Ford was voted Coach of the Year and Wildcat senior outfielder Devin Fish was voted Most Valuable Player.

Fish, a senior, hit .504 with 11 doubles, four triples and 30 runs batted in. He enjoyed a hitting streak of 28 games, the fourth longest in recorded state high school baseball history, according to the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association.

Mt. Juliet's Kyle Smith was voted Right-Handed Pitcher of the Year. Smith, a junior, went 9-1 prior to the TSSAA Spring Fling.

Other first team all-district honorees included: Drake Trice (3b) and Ethan Nehus (RHP) from Wilson Central; Jessep Polk (OF) and Cain Sloan (RHP / INF) from Lebanon High; and Mikee Brown (OF), Brady Cole (OF) and Trevor Bates (INF) from Mt. Juliet High.
