Hartmann Luggage closed its Lebanon production facility in December 2012. It was purchased by Samsonite in August from Clarion Capital Partners for a reported $35 million in cash.

The company, which produced high-end luggage, was founded in 1877. Owned by Ira Katz, it moved to the corner of Baddour Parkway and Hartmann Lane in 1959 and was one of the first businesses to open in the William D. Baird Industrial Subdivision.

At one point, Hartmann produced all of its luggage at the Lebanon site, employing more than 350 workers. However, over time, most of its manufacturing operations were moved to China and South America.

Samsonite hired XMi Commercial Real Estate of Nashville to seek a buyer for the building. The asking price for the 160,000 square-foot facility had been listed at $2.65 million.
