Longtime MJ city manager, US Army veteran
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, June 6 at Bond Memorial Chapel for former Mt. Juliet City Manager Danny C. Farmer, 76, of Mt. Juliet. A retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army, he died June 3, 2014.
Mr. Farmer served for 18 years with the City of Mt. Juliet and was a former president of the Tennessee City Managers Association. He was a member of the Mt. Juliet Breakfast Rotary Club, the Wilson County Grand Squares Square Dance Club and was an avid golfer.
Mr. Farmer was awarded the Bronze Star and the Meritorious Service Medal for his actions in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Military Officers Association of America and a member of the Vietnam Veterans Helicopter Pilots Association.
The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to Friday's service.
Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Chuck Groover. Interment with full military honors will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Survivors include: his wife of 58 years, Joan Farmer; children Danny Alan Farmer, Carol (Tony) Alicie and Susan Beth Farmer; grandchildren Patrick and Bethany Alicie.
Mr. Farmer was the son of the late, Hugh Wilson and Lennie Geraldine Thomas Farmer. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Carlotta Hoffman.
Honorary pallbearers will be 1983-2000 City of Mt. Juliet Employees.
