Lady 'Cats improve to 9-0
LEBANON -- Wilson Central picked up the pace in the second half with a 22-6 third quarter run in Friday night's 50-24 victory at Lebanon's Campbell Brandon Gym. Leading 19-9 at intermission, the Lady Wildcats rode the red-hot shooting of point guard Piper Elrod who knocked down six 3-pointers in the second half and led all scorers with 18 points.
Wilson Central (9-0 / 3-0 District 9-AAA) out-rebounded LHS 35-21, converting many of those rebounds into 22 second chance points.
Addison Byrd finished with seven points for WCHS while Lindsey Freeman and Nathalie ventura each had six.
Lebanon (4-6 / 0-3 district) was led by eight points from Zyrina Seay and four apiece from Christaney Brookshire and Maleigha Oldham.
LHS shot just 1-of-15 from beyond the arc and 7-of-19 at the line.
Wilson Central will be on the road at Spring Hill High School in Maury County Tuesday, Dec. 13.
Lebanon will host Shelbyville Central Tuesday evening.
Watertown 44, Monterey 30
MONTEREY -- Watertown's Tigerettes improved to 6-4 on the season following a 44-30 victory at Monterey Friday, Dec. 9.
Senior Mya Huddleston paced the Watertown effort with 12 points. Maria Allocco chipped in with nine points while Arianna Johns and McKenna George each scored six.
The Tigerettes are scheduled to host Eagleville Saturday, Dec. 10 in a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
Mt. Juliet 52, Portland 38
PORTLAND -- Julia Maki was a perfect 5-of-5 from beyond the arc and scored 15 points in Mt. Juliet's 52-38 win at Portland Friday night.
Ninth grader Emma Palmer was a force inside for the Lady Bears, scoring 20 points as her team improved to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in District 9-AAA.
Cassidy Harris had eight points and Aaliyah Frazier had eight.
Mt. Juliet is scheduled to host Siegel High Monday, Dec. 12.
