Friday night basketball canceled

An impending winter storm has effectively pulled the plug on two games involving Wilson County’s largest public high schools. A directive was sent out from the Central Office Thursday morning to Lebanon, Mt. Juliet, Wilson Central and Watertown High Schools canceling all after school activities on Friday, Dec. 6 due to concerns over an expected Arctic blast Friday.

The Mt. Juliet at Lebanon games as well at the Wilson Central at Hendersonville doubleheaders have been postponed.

Watertown was not scheduled to play Friday night, but the Tiger teams are set to host Westmoreland on Saturday -- weather permitting.

As of deadline on Thursday, the Donelson Christian Academy games at Friendship Christian set for tonight were still on.

Mt. Juliet Christian Academy is idle tonight as well, but there is a twinbill slated for Saturday in Eagleville.

(girls) Lebanon 75, LaVergne 46
LaVERGNE -- Lebanon High's girls rolled to a 75-46 win at LaVergne High Tuesday, Dec. 3 as three players scored in double figures.
    
Madison Sloan led the way with 17 while Kelsey Yarbrough powered inside for 14. Morgan Bruce added 13 while Kristen Dedman had nine points on a trio of 3-pointers.

LHS is set to host Hendersonville Tuesday, Dec. 10 in a "Pink Out" game.

(girls) Cookeville 50, Wilson Central 35
COOKEVILLE -- Wilson Central slipped to 2-1 on the season following Tuesday night's 50-35 road loss at Cookeville. Hannah Brewer led the Lady Wildcats with 14 points. WCHS is scheduled to play at District 9-AAA rival Beech on Tuesday, Dec. 10.

(girls) Riverdale 57, Mt. Juliet 40
MT. JULIET -- Two-time defending state champ Riverdale led all the way in a 57-40 victory over Mt. Juliet Tuesday, Dec. 10. Sally McCabe had 15 points for the Lady Bears while Ronjanae DeGray added 12.

(girls) Jackson Co. 63, Watertown 39
GAINESBORO -- Watertown fell to 5-3 on the season after Tuesday’s 63-39 loss at defending state champ Jackson County. Bobbi Staats paced the Tigerettes with 12 points as Mya Huddleston added seven.

WHS is scheduled to host Westmoreland Saturday and Red Boiling Springs Dec. 10.

(girls) MJCA 39, Providence 29
MURFREESBORO -- Meridith Orr scored 18 points Tuesday night to lead Mt. Juliet Christian to a 39-29 win at Providence Christian Academy. The Lady Saints improved to 7-2 on the season headed into a scheduled Saturday game at Eagleville.

(girls) MTCS 55,Friendship 28
MURFREESBORO -- Middle Tennessee Christian School rolled to a 55-28 win over visiting Friendship Christian School Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Abby Hinton had 10 points to lead the Lady Commanders, who fell to 0-4 with the loss.
