Plans 'ministry mall'
A Mt. Juliet church well known for their community outreach last week closed on a huge deal to buy out the Shiloh Plaza property near the county line to further their mission.
While planning for their famous Easter Egg Bash this weekend, the church closed on a deal that will allow them to progress their "Impact Center" in Wilson County, said Friendship Community Church Connections official Lisa Miller-Rich Monday.
"Just last week we closed on it," she said. "The entire Shiloh center."
It's a strip mall that's seen better days. However, there are several leases still intact and will be honored by the church, Miller-Rich noted.
The church currently meets at Elzie Patton Elementary School off North Mt. Juliet Road, and there are hundreds of congregants. Miller-Rich said they will utilize all the buildings in the center, and the church will eventually meet where the former Save-A-Lot was.
"It's a lot bigger than where we meet now," she said.
Miller-Rich noted their due-diligence on the property revealed more than 30,000 cars drive by Shiloh Plaza everyday, and that's the exposure they want.
"We want a ministry mall," she said.
Already they have a food bank, and that will be moved there. She also said they would love to have a "prayer café" and a revitalized youth center.
