A Mt. Juliet business is hosting a special fund raising event this week in an effort to aid the grieving parents of a 2-year-old child who died just days ago.
Brittany Butler, who works at Pump-It-Up in Mt. Juliet, said the story about the death of Ava Bright, 2, who died on March 21 following surgery, "sorrowed my heart to the core."
Butler, who is employed by Pump-It-Up, an indoor inflatable play facility for children and adults in Mt. Juliet, said she "had to do something to help this mother."
The child's parents, Jim and Krista Bright of Mt. Juliet, are trying to cope not only with their child's death but also a considerable amount of expenses. Krista Bright is a language pathologist at W.A. Wright Elementary School in Mt. Juliet.
At her death, 13 days after a tonsillectomy, a memorial fund was established in the name of Ava Bright at SunTrust Bank to help the family with medical bills and funeral expenses.
The event scheduled at Pump-It-Up is to be held Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The business is located at 1279 North Mt. Juliet Road. All proceeds received by the business during the two hour time frame will be contributed to the memorial fund.
