Gary Keith Rust, age 75 of Mt. Juliet, TN, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 28, 2016, after a two year battle with cancer.
He was a charter member of Grace United Methodist Church. Gary sang with the gospel quartet, "For Praise", since 1995 and later with "Grace Abounds". He retired from Textron as a project engineer, and his passions were gardening, fishing, and cheering for the UT Vols. He graduated from Tennessee High School in Bristol, and from University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Gary was preceded in death by parents, T.J. and Olive Rust, of Bristol.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Helen Rust; children, Brian (Julia) Rust, of Murfreesboro, Brent (Carolyn) Rust, of Mt. Juliet, and Bethany (Jody) McCarter of Mt. Juliet; grandchildren, Trent (Amanda) Walker, Matthew, Matt, Mitchell, and Bree Lynn Rust, Ethan and Erin McCarter; great-grandson, Tatum Walker; brothers, Phillip (Hilda) Rust of Bristol, and Terry (Marilyn) Rust of Montgomery, AL; sister-in-law, Carolyn Rider, of Englewood, TN; and aunts, Hope (Billy) Galliher, and Julia Malone of Bristol.
Celebration of Life Service will be Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 1 pm at Grace United Methodist Church, of Mt. Juliet, with Pastor Jeff Streszoff officiating.
Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, Nov. 1, from 4 to 8 p.m, at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet, and Wednesday from 12 p.m. until time of Service at Grace United Methodist.
A Visitation and Graveside Service will be held Saturday, Nov. 5 at Wilson Station Presbyterian Church in Englewood, TN at 1 pm (EST), with Grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers are Harold Hefner, Wayne Wilkerson, Keith Burgess, Darren Parker, and the Open Door Sunday School Class.
Memorial contributions can be made in Gary's name to the Grace United Methodist Church building fund, or the Wilson Station Presbyterian Church Cemetery fund.
