Gibbs Pharmacy celebrated 25 years in business on Thursday.
To mark the special occasion the Gibbs staff invited the community to stop by and enjoy free Maggie Moo's Ice Cream from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Gibbs Pharmacy opened on the University Medical Center campus in 1990 under the direction of owner Jim Gibbs. In 1997, Byron Pirtle joined the Gibbs team as a co-owner.
Gibbs moved into its current building, to the left of UMC at 1427 West Baddour Parkway, Lebanon, in 2007 - allowing them to further expand and achieve their goals of having a "small-town pharmacy" with "big-city technology."
Education Coordinator Jennifer Stephens said the pharmacy has been successful because they have always put their patients first. "We get them in and out quickly, and our employees have been here for so long that we have a relationship with our patients," she explained.
Gibbs Pharmacy staff includes five pharmacists and 15 full- and part-time employees. The pharmacists at Gibbs have over 130 years combined experience. Stephens said that they also have pharmacy students from Lipscomb University and the University of Tennessee in the pharmacy each month.
Stephens added that another part of their mission is to serve the community by providing diabetes and heart health educational opportunities for seniors. They visit the Lebanon Senior Center a few times each month to provide these programs.
