Glen Cathcart, age 80 of Gallatin, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016.
Memorial Service will be Friday, Sept. 2 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Rev. Mary Noble Parrish and Pastor Pat Freudenthal officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 2 from Noon until time of service.
Mr. Cathcart was born Aug. 21, 1936 in Nettleton, MS to the late Benjamin Franklin Cathcart and Lula Viola Mills Cathcart.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Rex Cathcart and Gwen Cathcart; sisters, Wynell Green, Willodean Thorne, Bonnie Faye Patterson, and Peggy Ann Tidwell.
He is survived by wife of 55 years, Velma Jonell Whitlock of Gallatin; daughters, Diane Cathcart-Lyles (Donald) of Castalian Springs and Jennifer Tardell (William) of Cooksville, MD; brothers, C. L. "Bo" Cathcart (Faye) of Lebanon and Benny Max Cathcart (Mary) of Cadillac, MI; four grandchildren, Dominic Cathcart (Sherrie), U. S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Derek Lyles, Emily Tardell, and Mary Tardell; and two great grandchildren, Courtney Cathcart and Chloe Cathcart.
Mr. Cathcart was a teacher and coach in Smyrna GA and Summerville, TN; principal at Covington High School, Smith County High School, and East Limestone High School; He was Assistant Principal at Gallatin High for 18 years. He was an avid Mississippi State fan.
