Tuesday at Five Oaks
LEBANON -- A sudden death playoff added a little drama to the sixth annual Wilson County Challenge Cup golf tournament held Tuesday, Sept. 6 at Lebanon's Five Oaks Golf & Country Club. Wilson Bank & Trust and Under Armour were tournament sponsors.
Mt. Juliet's girls needed two extra holes to break a tie at 180 with White House Heritage, giving MJHS a sweep of the team competition.
Haylee Gold shot an 86 to finish second overall and Caitlin Davis fired a 94 for the Lady Bears.
Brooklyn Spicer of WHH was the individual medalist with an 82. Her teammate Madison Smith shot a 98.
Wilson Central's girls placed third as a team with a 188. Individual scored included: Kristen Fredricks (92), Hannah Roberts (96) and Meryl Castle (103).
Lebanon's girls placed fourth with a 191, led by third place medalist Maggie Anderson with a 90. Teammates Briley Vaden had a 101 and Mary Caroline Minter a 102.
Monterey placed well back in the pack at fourth with a 220.
Mt. Juliet's boys held off Wilson Central 309 - 312 to repeat as boys team champion. Cooper Sears carded a 72 and Luke Raines a 73 to place 1-2 in the individual competition.
Rounding out the MJHS scoring was Sam Fogg with a 78, Payne Wright with a 93 and Dallus Byrum with an 86.
Wilson Central's Blain Turner earned third place medalist with a 76. Reece Gaddes and Luke Gray each shot 78, Preston Patterson an 80 and Trey Melvin an 82.
Lebanon finished third as a team with a score of 323, led by Mark McDearman and Ethan Mabry with identical scores of 78. Clay Alden Palmer scored an 81, Garrett Hughes an 84 and ninth grader Ethan Keith shot an 88.
Friendship Christian placed fourth with a 373, led by Hunter Blankenship with an 87. Will Stallworth carded an 89, Jacob Chessor 94, Dylan McGregor 103 and Wesley Elliot 104.
Middle Tennessee Christian carded a team score of 373; White House Heritage a 404; Monterey a 408.
Watertown did not have enough participants complete 18 holes to qualify for a team score. Individual scores for the Purple Tigers included: Jack Mitchell with a 102; Payton Lambert a 118 and Mason Rowland a 119.
