LPD SWAT and Negotiator teams responded to the scene when Shaw refused to come outside. Negotiator Cpl. Tim Murray and SWAT member Sgt. Titus Kelley talked to Shaw in an effort to peacefully return the child to her mother.
Bowen said Shaw did agree to return the child to Crute by sending the child outside with a family friend. But Shaw again refused to come outside and officers continued their negotiation.
Shortly before 4 a.m., Shaw reportedly agreed to surrender.
Shaw was arrested and charged with felony Especially Aggravated Kidnapping, felony Custodial Interference, Domestic Assault and Resisting Arrest. She is in custody at the Wilson County Jail with a $36,000 bond.
No one was harmed in the incident.
The officers on this case did an excellent job, Bowen said. In situations like these, you cant overreact and everyone did their jobs well and everything was resolved without anyone getting hurt.
