Gusty winds are in the forecast for Thursday and Thursday night, and a Wilson County Emergency Management Agency official said you may wish to tie down your holiday decorations.

Gusty winds of 15-15 mph with gusts over 30 mph are expected to develop ahead of a cold front after midnight tonight. Behind the cold front, even stronger west winds of 20-30 mph with gusts to 45 mph are anticipated from Thursday into Thursday night, said Capt. Stephen Spencer, EMA planning officer with the agency.

A cold front will sweep across the Mid-state on Thursday with widespread showers and thunderstorms expected. A few strong storms containing gusty winds are possible.

Behind the cold front, strong west winds of 20-30 mph with gusts to 45 mph are anticipated which will continue into Thursday night.

Take precautions and tie down all outside holiday decorations as your reindeer may take flight to your neighbors yard, he noted.
