A celebration of life was held Thursday afternoon, July 2 at First United Methodist Church in Lebanon for Mrs. Capra, 96. Known to her family and friends as "Mimi" she died June 30, 2015.
Born in Brinkley, Ark., she was a longtime faculty member in the music department at Belmont University and served as a church organist for most of her life.
Her tenures included First Baptist Church in Dyersburg; Immanuel Baptist Church and Woodmont Baptist Church in Nashville; St. Paul's Episcopal Church (Franklin); Second Presbyterian Church (Columbia); Hobson United Methodist Church (Nashville) and First Baptist Church in Lebanon.
She married Robert "Bob" Capra, a retired Baptist minister, Dec. 26, 1987, and they enjoyed more than 16 years together.
Survivors include: daughter Barbara Lee (Joe) Midkiff Willoughby of Mt. Juliet; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several other relations.
The family would like to thank the staff and acknowledge the care provided by Southern Manor Assisted Living in Lebanon and Gentiva Hospice.
The family requests a memorial gift be made to Belmont University for an endowed scholarship in her name to benefit music students.
