The not-for-profit organization was established in 1975 with the combined efforts of many of the society members. One of its primary functions was to strive for a public library under the Wilson County Library Board. With the cooperation of many people that goal was realized. Today, the Mt. Juliet Library is an outstanding asset to Mt. Juliet with a dedicated staff that serves people of all ages in the West Wilson County area, a member of the group said.
The Historical Society and the Library maintain a close relationship. A portion of the library is set aside for the Historical Society's collection of papers, family histories, and photos in the Genealogy area.
Everyone is welcome to attend an Open Forum-style meeting of the Historical Society on Sunday, Jan. 10. A few of the society members will be in attendance to help answer any questions you may have. The members are well versed on areas of West Wilson County.
The Mt. Juliet/West Wilson County Historical Society meets the second Sunday of each month at 2 p.m. on the third floor of Rutland Place on 435 North West Rutland Road, across from Lowe's at Pinnacle Bank.
