Holycross leads Tiger romp

WATERTOWN -- Tailback Dylan Holycross racked up over 300 yards in total offense and scored four touchdowns to lead Watertown past Clay County 44-0 Friday at Robinson Stadium.

Holycross scored TDs on runs of 54, 5, 93 and 60 yards as he finished the night with 14 carries for 249 yards. He also caught one pass for 52 yards.

Leading 18-0 at intermission, the Purple Tigers put the game out of reach with a 20-point outburst in the third period. All told, Watertown racked up almost 500 yards in total offense.

The win was the fifth in a row for Watertown since a season-opening loss. Coach Gavin Webster's team improves to 5-1 overall / 4-0 in Region 4A play headed into an Oct. 9 game vs. arch-rival Friendship Christian School. Clay County fell to 3-3 on the season.

Mt. Juliet Christian Academy (0-6) was idle Friday night. The Saints will host Knox Webb Oct. 9 at Suey Field on the MJCA campus.
