Devils host region opener Saturday
LEBANON -- Hitting just enough free throws down the stretch, Lebanon held off a stubborn Station Camp outfit 39-35 Tuesday, Feb. 21 in the District 9-AAA tournament finals at Campbell Brandon Gym.

Coach Jim McDowell's Blue Devils overcame a poor second quarter that saw SCHS mount a 23-19 lead at intermission by outscoring the Bison 20-12 in the second half.

"This one was a battle," McDowell said after the game. "Give Station Camp credit, they had a good defensive plan, but our kids were tough -- especially in the second half."

With the Bison defense turning its focus on LHS post man Eddie Jackson the backcourt stepped up in a big way drilling seven 3-pointers.

Jeremiah Hastings and Noah Mulaski each canned a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 10 points each.

JaKeese Turner also had two 3-pointers and scored nine while tournament MVP Cameron Oliver scratched and clawed for eight points -- including a clutch three from with wing.

Turner drilled a pair of free throws with 31.3 second left for a 38-33 Lebanon lead, then after seeing his teammates miss a couple of opportunites with the clock stopped, Turner drained the back end of a two-shot opportunity with 4.3 seconds left to ice the game.

With the win, Lebanon improved to 22-7 headed into the Region 5-AAA opener Saturday, Feb. 25 at home against the No. 4 team out of District 10-AAA.

Station Camp (20-10) was led by Chase Freeman with 18 points. The Bison will host a first round regional game 7 p.m. Saturday against the No. 3 team out of District 10-AAA.

Consolation -- Mt. Juliet 55, Beech 48
LEBANON -- Playing without District 9-AAA regular season MVP J.R. Sanders due to an ankle injury, Mt. Juliet pulled out a 55-48 victory over Beech in the District 9-AAA consolation game Tuesday at Lebanon HIgh's Campbell Brandon Gymnasium.

Leading 33-32 after three periods, Mt. Juliet closed out the Bucs on a 22-16 run.

Terrell Wilson paced MJHS with 18 points while Trey Pruitt added 14. Jordan Lockridge chipped in with nine points.

Now 21-9 overall, the Golden Bears will be on the road Friday, Feb. 25 playing at the District 10-AAA runner-up.
